Localize on Android

The instream SDK provides a convenient way to add languages or change the strings used by the ad player on supported languages.

Supported languages

By default, the SDK is shipped with the following languages:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Turkish
  • Polish
  • Russian
  • Portuguese
  • Chinese

Adding / changing localization

  1. Create a strings.xml resource file in your application project.

    Or use one you already have for the language that you want to target.

  2. Define values for the strings listed in the table below.

    You can either create strings for a new language or override specific strings from existing languages.

  3. Don’t forget to add %s placeholder if necessary.

    The placeholder can be a number of second or a time in minutes/seconds, check the table below for more information.


String keys

Here is the exhaustive list of the keys used to localized strings in your strings.xml resource file.

Key Description
svs_ui_adbreak_preroll_countdown_message Countdown message until the end of the Preroll Ad Break.
The message must have a string placeholder to display the remaining time with the format HH:ss.
svs_ui_adbreak_midroll_countdown_message Countdown message until the end of the Midroll Ad Break.
The message must have a string placeholder to display the remaining time with the format HH:ss.
svs_ui_adbreak_postroll_countdown_message Countdown message until the end of the Postroll Ad Break.
The message must have a string placeholder to display the remaining time with the format HH:ss.
svs_ui_skip_countdown_message Countdown message before the skip button is clickable.
The message must have a string placeholder to display the remaining time in seconds.
svs_ui_skip_button Text displayed on the skip button when active.
svs_ui_click_through_button Text displayed on the clickthrough button if enabled.
